Job retention scheme- I have 2 jobs, am I entitled to 80% wages on both jobs?

I’m looking for some clarification please, I have 2 jobs one in the hospitality industry which is zero hours which I’m not able to work at the moment and a full time job which I’m salaried and currently still in work normal hours but could potentially be asked to drop my hours or not work at all.

my question is If I’m not able work Both jobs can my employers claim the 80% wages for me under the current job retention Scheme for both jobs or
would I only be entitled to this for 1 job as I’ve been told by someone today that her partners employer gave him a pack which stated you can only have the 80% against one job but l cannot find anything online to be able to confirm if this is correct.

if I’m only able to receive this on 1 job than I would rather claim on my full time job with a regular income over the zero hours contract job as I would be better off financially receiving the 80% on my full time wage.

any advice on this would be appreciated.

We don't know. Nor did the Health Secretary when asked a similar question in the House of Commons.

Thanks it really does need to be clarified because myself aswell as others want to be in the best financial position we can in these worrying times and I don’t want to make the mistake of taking the 80% on the lower income job and not be able to change it at a later date if needed

I don't think you realise how this works. An employer decides it can't afford to pay its staff due to coronavirus. It also decides it will be able to keep going with its existing staff post coronavirus so long as it can furlough some or all of them temporarily. Therefore rather than making some or all staff redundant, it applies to the coronavirus job retention scheme for 80% of the furloughed staff's wages, which it passes on to them, topping up if desired. It calls the affected employees to explain what is happening. They will do no work at all for the employer while furloughed. That may involve the employees agreeing to an amendment to their contracts of employment, as this was not envisaged when it was drawn up.
Each of your employers does this independently. Whether you are selected for furlough is up to them. If they choose to ask the employees who would prefer to work and who would prefer to be furloughed, so be it, but they make the decision. It may turn out that at some stage there is a restriction placed on employees furloughed by two employers, but quite how you could anticipate this and do some sort of negotiation with your employers is a mystery to me.

I’m aware of how the scheme works but i was simply trying to get clarification if anyone actually knows for definite if the entitlement for this is restricted to 1 job as this is what I’ve been told by someone today, if this is the case then I could ask the employer of the zero hour contract to not furlough me and keep the entitlement for the 80% for my main job, my employer of my full time job has already agreed to furlough us and apply for the funds if needed in the near future so obviously if I’m only allowed for 1 employer to apply for this on my behalf then obviously I want this on my full time salary and not the zero hour contracts job.

I fully understand it is the employers choice to
furlough you and apply for the 80% but as already said if the government decide that your only entitled to this on one job then i obviously don’t want to use this entitled on my zero
hours contract when it’s more beneficial to me on my full time job.

i’ll just keep checking on the relevant sites for this so I know where I stand.

No. As I said, Matt Hancock doesn't know and none of us do either, but the Chancellor is probably now aware of the point. Do keep looking at the relevant sites.
