How to buy food for Clients

My wife is a private care worker and is now having to go out and buy essentials for vulnerable clients. The problem is she doesn't want money (cash) to change hands as it can get very complicated very quickly. Some of her clients have given power of atorney to their family that in some cases are living hundreds of miles away and are in charge of all bills, payments, shopping etc. She just really doesn't know how to go out and get people their food shopping and really doesn't want to start doing BACS payments as it can all get messy very quickly. I have suggested that her clients or whoever is in charge of their accounts should just do a click and collect order from whichever shop they choose and specify that a care worker called ******* from ******* will be collecting the order, they will be carrying ID so please ask for it.
Do any of you have any other easy/simple ideas that would help her and her colleagues out?
Any ideas would be very much appreciated

Could the clients pay by cheque, with many banks you can scan the cheque on your phone and get paid in around 2 days

How do they normal pay for the essentials? as if she needs to go out to buy the essentials they must be living in there own place rather then in care home, surely this comes up quite often normally.
However does she work for herself or a company? If it is for a company then surely the easiest solution is to get the company to pay for it and keep the reciepts then they can sort it all out once it is over.
Unless she is shopping for about 20 people a few BACS payments will not take that much effort to work out.
