Help with wages

Please can someone clarify. Does my employer have to actually close before they can apply for the 80% help from the Govt. I work for a catering company that supplies food to schools. There are very few hours to share and we don’t get paid unless we work. Thanks in advance for any help.

The company needs to discuss the furlough option with you and place you on it - that's how you get the 80%. Whether the premises close or not is irrelevant as long as the company is still operational.
