Not made redundant but new job cancelled

Hi
Can anyone give me some advice I put my notice in a month ago and left last Friday I was due to start a job on Monday but at 2130 on the Friday my start was cancelled leaving me without a job and with no prospect in getting one in the near future I will have a little bit to get me through a couple of months but then it will run out what can I do
Thanks

    Look at Universal Credit. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/
There are online calculators to help you assess entitlement  https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators

  • Thanks I'm trying universal credit currently 37463 in the que but my wife earns 610 a month I have heard that if she works I won't get anything. Its the first time I have been out of a job to be honest and I'm worried I have bills like the next person but I don't want to fall into the use your card trap

That's not true. If you are a couple with no rent or children and your only income is £610/month there will be UC entitlement of about £114/month (before the increase announced to take place in April). If you have children and/or rent the UC will be higher.
You may also be able to claim Council Tax Reduction from your local authority.

Use the benefit calculator as in my previous post.
