Are we essential workers?

I work in a team of cleaners on a retail park. I have been trying to find out if we should be in work as essential workers. I have been in work today and nobody seemed to be able to give me any answers.....

I have looked at the list published and I see hygiene and waste management.
Is there anywhere I can go to ask the question?

Also, there is a maintenence team on site, are they classed as essential?

Deosnt seem to be any real answers for me......

More exact answers are being decided on at the moment. If at the moment you clean spaces to support essential services then I would expect you are needed. If your retail park has shut down to just a few shops then I am sure there will be limited cleaning required and by a smaller team.
A maintenance team would also be needed to support essential businesses, work place safety, urgent repairs etc.
You should follow advice from whoever your supervisors might be and I am sure more definite answers will come in the next day or so.
  • It's just a worrying time. Most stores ard closed. Shops like asda, boots, poundland remain open

Yes, as those stores will remain open, and cleaning/infection control is necessary

I can understand if you are worried and if anyone has an issue with you being out and about you should state that you are a cleaner and required to be working and are going from home to work or back again. Take that line until you are asked not to come in directly by your supervisors.
