Insurance claim

Hello,
We booked a family holiday house in Norfolk for 10th April (half term week), but given the recent Govt lockdown we can't go now.  The company that owns the house says they can't offer us a refund, so we will need to make a claim though our travel insurance.
My question to the forum is two fold.
1.  Do we make the claim through the insurance we had in place when we booked the holiday in April last year or the insurance we have in place now?  FYI, we have two separate policies (one for me and one for my wife and two boys) because I have a medical condition.
2. We were travelling with another family, so do they have to make a separate claim for their part of the holiday house?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Nigel
