I booked ferry crossings to Normandy for myself and husband, son, DiL and grandson, and other son and fiancee to travel on 7 April and return on 12 April.  I don't have any travel insurance.  Brittany emailed today to say that they have cancelled our crossings, but are only offering vouchers for use within 12 months.  I have paid them about  £850.  I don't know when we may be able to go, or if we'll be able to find dates when are all available.  Am I able to refuse the vouchers and ask for a refund?  Thanks

  • I'm in almost exactly the same situation.  I don't want to be tied to making a BF trip - and I don't know if the 12 months refers to booking or travel.

I'd be grateful to find out my rights.  TIA
  • I just found this on Which www.which.co.uk/news/2020/03/coronavirus-outbreak-advice-for-travellers/
"Brittany Ferries has cancelled all passenger services to France and Spain, and DFDS has cancelled its Amsterdam to Newcastle service, until 13 April at the earliest. If you’re affected, you’ll automatically get a credit voucher, equivalent to the ticket price, to use on a future service. You’re entitled to request a refund instead, but you’ll need to contact the company directly."
I have already replied to the email offering me the voucher requesting a refund - I await the response with interest!
