ASDA Home Delivery

Options
I saw a report that ASDA will now  be prioritising home delivery for the elderly and vulnerable. Can't see it on their website ( when it is working!) and how can the possibly police it??

Not heard this relating to Asda but an email has been sent out by Sainsbury's part of which reads:

We have been able to identify a number of customers as elderly and vulnerable based on the information they have given us previously. These details would include date of birth and if you have ever used our vulnerable customer helpline. For all of these customers, we will email you today (Sunday) with information on when slots will become available.

If you do not receive an email and you consider yourself to be vulnerable, please visit our Groceries Online website on Monday for information on how to contact us. We are also working as quickly as possible on an option for people to register themselves as disabled and vulnerable on their online shopping accounts.

However, if you are not already a home delivery customer with them you will find (as I did) that you can't register now.

  • On the 11th of March I placed an online grocery order with Asda for home delivery - booked my time slot - paid  the £91 requested - the £91  was taken by them from my bank account 16 days ago - but guess what? No delivery arrived, and now their web page tells me that the order was not placed - but my bank account tells a different story.
I've tried ringing their phone number until I'm blue in the face! I've tried emailing roger.burnley@asda.co.uk until I'm red in the face! I need this money reimbursed to my bank to enable me to buy food from elsewhere.
I should add that due to my age and health issues I'm in self-imposed home isolation due to coronavirus worries which is the reason that I tried to get home delivery from them in the first place.

Starving75. I am in the same boat. I agree the ASDA site is a technical disaster. I continually try to pay for delivery and it comes up with different types of error. One of the best was when I tried to continue after payment had been verified it flashed up a message saying 'City or Town not found'!!! If possible, and I know banks' are overwhelmed with calls, why not try to ask your bank for the money back. It is, I believe, depending on what type of card you used to pay. But also it is fraud under Consumer Rights Act as you have not received the goods you paid for. .Good Luck and Stay Safe.

It is now impossible to  get a delivery slot on any of the major supermarkets and food stores. Last night, I continuously waited on the computer refreshing the screen for the next day's slots from my  local ASDA. So I clicked and refreshed and there WAS a new set of slots popped up on the screen which had not been there seconds before. But, guess what, they were all taken!!
The Government are continuously telling us not to go out. I am over 77 and not having  people around me to help, it means I will have to venture out to buy essentials. This all started because Johnson told everybody to stay home and used delivery services for their food.!!! It wasn't until later the Government clarified that you could go out to get food. See you in hospital!!

I paid for a 6 month Asda home delivery pass a month or so before this started. Used twice and now it's impossible to use. Could be the worst £35 I've ever spent

    No its not!

Fraud requires intent. They may well be incompetent and obviously the OP is due a refund but it is total nonsense to suggest it was a criminal act!

Have you not had a letter from your local council asking to register with them as a vulnerable person and they will then step in and arrange shopping/prescriptions etc?
