Experience with Lloyds banking app?

Hi all,
I am looking to open a new bank account and having become used to doing everything from the phone (Monzo) I'm looking for a bank with good app/online functions so I don’t have to visit branch or call them. A friend has suggested Lloyds, who I like the look of but just looking for further experiences with these guys particularly online? It’s hard to tell from their website which makes the app look super easy (obviously).
Thanks!

Liking or disliking an app is down to personal preference. If you go ahead and open a Lloyds account, you will soon know whether you like it or not. If not, you can just stop using the account, or close it altogether.1

I resisted using any bank app forca while, then I downloaded the Lloyds app and found it brilliant. I can't say if its better or worse than any other bank app, but it seems fine to meNo.79 save £12k in 2020. Total end May £11610
Annual target £240000 -
I find the LBG apps the easiest, and most intuitive, to use. But that may be because of familiarity (I use my other apps much more infrequently).0

One thing I dislike about the Lloyds app is that it doesn’t offer you a pre-defined of list of beneficiaries such as credit card companies when paying your credit card for the very first time. You MUST manually type in the sort code & account no of every new payee. Not a huge issue but compare that against FirstDirect’s app which lets you choose from a predefined list of councils, credit card companies etc which helps when paying one of the companies in the lists.
On the plus side, the app is very slick, as good as FirstDirect’s on my iPhone XS. Also love the fact that you can setup new beneficiaries through the app without having to faff around with card readers or other 2FA nonsense.0 -
I’ve used Monzo for ages and have also switched spare accounts multiple times for the switching bonus. Out of all the banks I’ve tried I’ve found the Lloyds app the best out of the traditional banks and the most comparable to Monzo/Starling. It doesn’t offer the budgeting features that Monzo does but shows payments immediately (as pending if needed); shows a map of where the purchase was made; freeze and unfreeze your card; notifications etc. I’d definitely recommend it.0

I have Halifax which should be the same app, just different colours? I still feel like nothing comes close to Monzo and Starling, but at least these traditional banks are trying to catch up. Halifax recently added icons of major retailers that show up in my mobile app so I suppose it now also works in the Lloyds app. What I don't understand is why they still don't show payment times. Is it really so hard to do? Or is there any rational reason for not showing it? I find it very useful, especially when I'm out doing some shopping in different places and later I want to know what time exactly it was when I did this or that purchase or transaction.

I generally find the Barclays app is by far the best out of the banking apps that I have. You can open a Barclays account through the Barclays app in a similar way to how you open an account with Monzo, taking a photo of your ID and recording a short video.Having said this, I think the Lloyd’s app is probably the next best banking app I use after Barclays. They both are really good apps competed to some other banks.0

I like the lloyds app. I opened a nationwide account last year for the 5% interest an having only previously ever use lloyds was quite shocked at how basic their app is compared to lloyds. I can't remember the last time I wasn't able to do something from the app and had to use the full Internet banking site.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉1

I've only just managed to open a Lloyds account following the missing submit button on their online application some months back. I wanted to use the app to pay cheques into my account. I found this great on my Halifax app and assumed Lloyds would be the same. One scanned cheque and a couple of bank transfers later and my account was locked, so I never got any further.

As far as I'm concerned, it is the same. I've used both apps (I think they are the same app just with different branding) to pay in cheques and they both worked identically.0
