Rossendale Bailiffs

Hi, I am self-employed and director of a limited company. I am a single woman in a rented property with no savings. I have got myself into substantial debt (approx. £6,500 currently and growing - these are mostly priority bills) waiting for a deal to come through with my small business. The deal may come off yet, time will tell, but in the meantime I have signed up for Universal Credit and will find out what payment I will get on 8th April. I have got a strategy for most debts. However, the lovely people at Rossendales sent a bailiff round 7 days ago while I was self-isolating due to possible Coronavirus (not confirmed). I know how to handle the visits. My council tax debt was originally £690 when passed to Rossendales in November. I managed to make a payment of £233 in December. I had great intentions to have it all paid off by payment plan by 17th January (they wouldn't allow more spread out payments regardless). Unfortunately, expected income did not materialise (partly due to being in hospital for a miscarriage). I got in touch with my council to see if they could take the debt back outlining my circumstances before the payment due date. The Council could not take the debt back and all they could do was tell Rossendales to give me an extra 7 days. I did not have the money 7 days later and haven't done since. Obviously the bailiff visit added £250 on to my £460 remaining debt. My question is under these circumstances together with the COVID-19 situation, is there anything I can do to get some relief here in terms of the bailiff fee? Long shot but you never know until you ask... Any other tips for dealing with Rossendales greatly appreciated.

I don't think bailiffs are "key workers" so they shouldn't be out knocking on doors. I don't know who you would ask to confirm this and who could enforce this (other than the police who probably have too much to do at this time).
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
