My work claim pay is 80% of basic

Almost half my pay is commission work say the government will pay 80 % of my basic not what I earnt in Feb the difference is £180 a week does anyone know which it is can't survive on 80% of basic pay that is about45% of my actual wage

    That would be correct, basic pay is your contracted earnins, commision is a 'bonus' usually a percentage from sales.

    I very much doubt the government will paying your commission for you. The money is being offered so companies do not have to lay staff off.

    Commission based workers are an under-represented group in the news.

    We've heard a lot about self-employed and zero hr but not much yet about commission workers and their gaps. If the govt puts a plan together to meet the gap for the others then surely they could for commission workers too, up to the £2500 monthly limit based on historical earnings. There are a lot of commission workers who rely on an average level of sales to make up for still only a minimal salary. They aren't all selling houses and porsches.

    The good news is it's not up to your company. It's up to HMRC. If they pay, the company pays you. The bad news is you are getting something which is more than SSP and you may not get attention. You'll need to wait to see whether you are covered as we do not yet know.
