Will I lose right to 80% pay from current employer if I return to key sector work during crisis

I currently work in a private school in an admin role, and off as schools are closed & my role can't be done at home. I am hoping, to be paid 80% of my wages by my school but no-one knows what's happening yet .
My question is if I return to my previous role as a carer in a nursing home, during this crisis as they are pleading for ex-workers to support them. Will this affect my entitlement to 80% from my school, as I want to really help out but have a family to consider if I lose income

You can't count on the 80% until confirmed by your employer.  As long as the nursing home is not in the same corporate ownership as the school, I see no reason why you could not work there.  However, remember that the nursing home would want to check for references (even if you have worked for them before this should be the case) and therefore your current employer would know of this likely source of income and might decide not to apply to the government for the furlough payment.

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding this retention scheme. It's the employer that will be getting 80% of your wages paid by the gov, employees should be expecting to get their full wage packet. They will also have officially put you on furlough so it will be down to them to decide what conditions this would mean. Does your current contract of employment exclude you from taking other work?
