Can we furlough students

I am currently contacting staff re furloughing but we have two under-18 students who have been working regular hours. We would like to furlough them but don't want to end up being refused compensation because they are too young. I've searched the government info and also this page without success. Does anyone know if there are exclusions to the compensation scheme? Thank you

Do they have financial responsibilities ?

No dependents or independent rent, no. Actually as a criteria that makes perfect sense. I guess I was concentrating too much on the age and trying to get all my ducks in a row. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction!mwarby said:Do they have financial responsibilities ?

It maybe that you can claim, but there's an argument as to whether to do so is in the spirit of the rules. Maybe worth thinking about what you can offer them, especially after the crisis has passed
