Hi all,
just wondered if someone can help! My son is currently at uni and has a part time job, his contracted hours are 7hrs a week, but on average he works an 18 hour week. His employment is part of the entertainment industry so have closed in light of recent events, they have told him he will get paid but only on his contracted hrs not his actual hours. Does anyone know if this is correct and if he asked his employer to put him on furlough, will he get paid on his actual hrs and not his contracted hrs. Very concerned at the moment as he’s away from home and has rent to pay. Thanks in advance

The employer has to put him in the job retention scheme and furlough him. We don't have enough details on the scheme to answer your question.1

Just thought I’d share an update on the situation, my sons employer has decided to furlough all employees and the 80% will be based on the hrs worked over the previous 12 weeks, so he is one of the lucky ones that can relax for a bit and spend the time studying as some exams are still going ahead0
