House move

We're booked to move house this coming weekend but in light of tonight's news about lock down I'm not sure where we stand. My landlady won't be best pleased if I tell her we can't move as she has people waiting to move in straight away so it's a chain reaction situation.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Many thanks.

The announcement was made this evening. None of us have any more information than was contained in the announcement.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

    We've not been told.

I'm guessing the reason is because they havent got as far as thinking of that angle yet. I'd think they would give a "window of opportunity" for those that have already got as far as contracts exchanged. It would seem logical for them to allow up to 4 weeks for those that have Exchanged to have their Completion Day (and move) in the normal way.

There would be far too many people suing right left and centre because of accommodation problems if they didn't.

Easy to say if you haven't already pulled the trigger on a move, they haven't changed the legal rules about it so the same liabilities and penalties exist for non completion. Also renters will have given notice, in my case my NHS worker partner and I are exchanging this week so can't stop the process. Also not likely to be group hugging crowds whilst moving house are we?

If you haven’t exchanged yet then yes, you can halt the process.

At at the moment this is only a 3 week delay.

Its extremely likely to be much longer than that after following the figures, we can halt but not at great financial cost, which we most definitely can't afford. Plus we are on a countdown with our landlord now, 3 weeks is all we have.

You will have to withdraw your notice, you can’t be evicted at the moment.
