I wonder if anyone can advise please? I took early retirement and, as a celebration, paid for flights and accommodation for members of my extended family as a treat, (mum, son, daughter, son in law and his dad). I managed to get a full refund for the accommodation directly from Home Away. How would I be able to claim for the flights, (Ryanair), in this scenario please? I have an annual holiday insurance (just for my son and I though). The others, (except mum as we were waiting until nearer the time as she has pre existing conditions), have their own insurance. |Thanks in advance

When are the flights booked for and has the route actually been cancelled yet?
  • Hi Thanks for the reply. Flights Birmingham to Fuerteventura, Ryanair, 13th April. All I've had up to now from them is I can book the same route without a change fee for a later date but any increase in fare will have to be paid for. For a variety of reasons we can only go at Easter so later in the year is not an option. Thanks again for the reply.

Ryanair have basically said they will be shutting down the entire airline for April and probably May, so your flights won't be happening.

You say all you've had is an an offer to change dates... did that come via an email? Was it an email formally notifying you of cancellation?  Up until now Ryanair have still been offering refunds (where most of their competitors seem to be forcing people into changing date or taking travel vouchers)

When you log onto the booking on ryanair.com does the booking show as cancelled? If it does, what options are there? Should be a Change Booking and Get Refund option?
  • Hi bagand96 and thanks very much for taking the time to reply. As it happens, this afternoon I received an email from Ryanair offering a full refund so it looks like all is good. Thanks again, take care, stay in and keep safe x

For future reference you should always get travel insurance the day you buy the first part of any holiday not wait until later.
