Will my move go ahead?

My house sale is sorted, just waiting to finalise my house purchase before sorting out exchange and completion on both sale and purchase.
With what is happening in the world right now, what would happen if we were to go in to lockdown? I am assuming that this would put a delay on the completion until we are all return to normality?
Or, would the sale and purchase continue as normal?
Thanks

Nobody here really knows the answer to that question. Have you spoken to your EA/solicitor? Probably will just have to wait and see what happens.

It depends what "lockdown" consists of really. For as long as solicitors, the Land Registry etc are allowed to work and the banking system is operating as normal, in theory transactions can still proceed.

Solicitors are prioritising those transactions which have already exchanged and are due to complete over the next few weeks.  Anything else will be done on a purely priority basis.  Solicitors are unlikely to exchange if they are not sure it will complete on the set date, that's why a large proportion will now be simultaneous so that exchange/completion take place on the same day.  If there are still outstanding matters/enquiries to deal with though, I would imagine that there will be a delay until the corona virus is no longer a threat.
