Help - Just started new job in March and now furloughed

Does anyone have any clarification re this? I finished my last job on 29th Feb and started new job on 8th March. As i hadn't yet received my P45 I filled in a P46 with my new em,ployer. From what I'm reading employers can only claim the 80% for employees who were on their records on 29th Feb. Does anyone know where that leaves me? Getting really anxious now. :-(

Like everyone you'll just have to wait and see until the full details has been released by the gov.0

Yep, that's what I'm expecting, just wondered if anyone had some opinion or thoughts on if this must be employed by on 29th Feb is an actual rule of maybe just an idea that's circulating at the moment.neilmcl said:Like everyone you'll just have to wait and see until the full details has been released by the gov.

The press release talks about the scheme running from 1 March 2020 for 3 months (with the possibility to extend). I suppose the question has to be why hire someone on 8 Mach and immediately lay them off?0

Because we weren't taking coronavirus seriously on the 8th of March but are now?Jeremy535897 said:I suppose the question has to be why hire someone on 8 Mach and immediately lay them off?
For obvious reasons they should exclude people hired after the announcement as there would be too many scams.
Could they be matching with PAYE records? If you haven't been paid yet, then maybe you aren't covered??1 -
Exactly, when he accepted the job and handed his notice in etc and then a period of gardening leave we had no idea that this would happen. Unfortunately our crystal ball wasn't working!phillw said:

We're hoping his P46 was processed and he is registered at HMRC as having started employment but who knows. If it goes on his previous pay then obviously there won't be anything showing :-(
