When offered Vouchers Can we claim on insurance to get a refund instead?

With it seeming like most airlines are refusing refunds but only vouchers. If we're in a situation where we can't afford to rebook even with vouchers can we claim on the insurance? I'm struggling to get through to anyone at the insurance to find out!

Also if we accept the vouchers and the company goes bust where do we stand then?

Your insurance won't cover you .

To stop the travel industry becoming insolvent the rules on refunds are almost certainly going to be relaxed . Vouchers only

  • I wonder if anyone can advise please? I took early retirement and, as a celebration, paid for flights and accommodation for members of my extended family as a treat, (mum, son, daughter, son in law and his dad). How would I be able to claim in this scenario please? I have an annual holiday insurance (just for my son and I though). The others, (except mum as we were waiting until nearer the time as she has pre existing conditions), have their own insurance. |Thanks in advance

As per normal , you will get a refund ( or more likely a voucher ) if you are not allowed to travel but this won't happen until nearer the time . Your insurance is almost certainly not going to pay out unless you have cancellation and curtailment cover
