I had to give my employers, a local authority,  8 weeks notice to leave as I was a manager over a certain grade. Now that was no problem 8 weeks ago, the Corona Virus hadn't hit then. I finished work last week. In fact my last day at work I was sent home as my OH is in one of the vulnerable groups and I worked public facing. He is currently working from home.
Now It's looking increasingly like our house move (80+ miles away) won't happen due to Covid 19. When/if we move we will be mortgage free, hence giving up work, I would look for work near our new home.. But at the moment we still have a mortgage to pay and I have no income. My wages paid the mortgage and the food shopping.
At the same employer I also have a zero hours contract that I didn't give up (had to work as casual if I wanted any extra hours due to my pay grade) , I kept it until I was sure that I didn't need work, so I am sort of still under employ potentially. Although I haven't worked any hours under this contract for a while.  The workplace will shut soon due to the virus but they are hanging on as long as possible. Is there anything I can claim to help us out financially?
I can't take on any temp work because of my OH's health.

I don't think that the existence of the zero hour contract helps, because there is no pay attached to it, unless they will give you some work (but why would they). You could seek a mortgage holiday. I suspect you will between you have enough savings/income to mean there will be no entitlement to universal credit, but you can try an eligibility checker.

No, we wouldn't be entitled to Universal Credit.

If your house sale can go through, and it is the purchase that is at risk, rent somewhere in the meantime. If it's your sale that's lost, consider the mortgage holiday.
