Should my girlfriend go to work

Just looking for a bit of advice if my girlfriend should go to her two jobs.
The college that my girlfriend works in as a cleaner is shutting down for good in 3 months but the cleaners have been told they got to go in even though the college is only open for the caretakers.
The other job my girlfriends does is in a primary school as a dinner lady and even though the school is shut to kids the teachers are going in so the headteacher have told all the dinner ladies due to other schools opening for kids on free school meals they will have to be flexible and go to that school or you won't get paid.

Comments

  • If no dinner ladies turn up how will the kids who need free school meals get fed?

They are only doing box meals so you collect and leave.

    Who is preparing them?

I would have thought like everybody else in the country if the place of work is still open they need to go to get paid. Until they ban all travel or employers tell you not to go in then to get paid you need to go.

The teachers have been told not to go in and the caretakers haven't got anything to do so I think they are only there so people don't break in.

It does not matter what they are they for, the management obviously do not want to pay them to do stay at home at this point.

Until the government say that all non essential workers stay home, she has to go in if requested

You will probably get the word you need tonight

What the heck is the definition of "essential work" though? Essential for who? Ask many bosses and they will tell you all the work they pay workers to perform is essential
