Second job in a supermarket

Hi,
If I took a second part time job in a supermarket, would this impact upon my eligibility to being furloughed and receiving 80% pay through my normal full time job?.
Thanks

I don't think so, although the details have not been published yet. The brief details of the coronavirus job retention scheme that have been published require that your employer furloughs you, which means you are not allowed to do any work for your employer. It is silent about work for anyone else.
We all have to be cautious about answering detailed questions from sparse outlines of proposals, but in this case I am reasonably confident. The coronavirus job retention scheme is not designed to be a safety net for employees' income. It is designed to preserve the job itself, which is independent of the job holder, and therefore it doesn't need to look at their other income or assets.0 -
Thanks for your comments, jeremy535897. I am in the same situation. Laid off by my employer, but still on the books and looking for supermarket/driving work. I have called the HMRC today to seek clarification if I will be penalised for taking a second job but no-one knew the answer yet. Perhaps some answers will be provided later, after all, Boris's announcement was only made on Friday at 5pm.0

If you're going to get paid whilst on furlough isn't it better to leave these jobs for those who are not going to benefit much from this.0
