Thanks everyone.
We did think we'd move into the house (which is now finished apart from the flooring) and have the flooring laid at a later date but we have been unable to find a removal company..
Just the two lots of bills and council tax to pay then. I've yet to find out whether the home insurance I have in place for our new house will still be valid if we are unable to occupy the place for the duration and now I'm paranoid about being stopped by the police if I drive there (ten minutes away) daily to check it's still standing.
Still, there's lots worse off than us. Let's hope it isn't for too long."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
