Can a company stipulate I have to pay by cheque or bank transfer?

Hi I very concerned that I ordered a fitted bedroom before all the Covid-19 started. Against my better judgement I was told I had to pay by either cheque or bank transfer, and I wasn't happy spending such a lot of money and having no fall back(as far as I'm aware).
I have the balance to pay on Thursday and it should be fitted the following Thursday(I have already paid 75% of the cost). I am really concerned that if the company cannot fit the bedroom next week and then goes into liquidation I will have no rights. Can anyone let me know if they are within there rights to say I can't pay by debit or credit card so that I am covered or anything else I can do. Thanks

A company can stipulate the payment methods they will accept ... a consumer can decide whether or not to do business with that company accordingly.
You're already past that decision point.1 -
It’s too late to worry now.2 years ago we had a small conservatory built around the 25k mark using a company that we had used previously for windows, had all the plans agreed, materials chosen and dates confirmed and then company hit us with the demand that they wanted the 25% deposit by bank transfer. We spoke to their head office and expressed our concern at having no protection and asked whether we could pay a small amount on a credit card, perhaps a few hundred and then the rest by bank transfer but they said they had no credit facilities with the bank at all.
Despite being several weeks into the discussion we pulled out and refused to sign contracts, they even reduced the price for us in an effort to get us to go ahead, but we weren’t comfortable. Started all over again with a new company who were more than happy to take a credit card .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If the company goes into liquidation you become a creditor and may get some of your money back. No-one can advise whether you should risk more money with this company, certainly if you don't you won't get the fitted bedroomIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
