Debit card upgrade

I had a student account with barclays for 2 years and was issues with a Barclays Connect Visa Debit card, i missed a few direct debit payments, and they took my connect card away. I now have a current account with them with a electron card, with a £1600 overdraft limit, and the account has been running perfect for 17 months, but they wont give a connect card, as i have a default on my file.

what should i do??

Settle the default and get a certificate of satisfaction.
With this in hand make an appointment to speak to your account manager in person at the branch and see what he/she can do.
If you do not settle the default then all other banks will probably turn you down as it will be on your credit history.

do what esjones666 said and also run your account in credit for alteast 6 months then speak to your account manager as he will say the same things...the manager will ONLY override authority under exceptional circumstances

Barclays no longer issue Electron cards. Go into your branch, tell them you've damaged your existing one and ask them to replace it. They will send you a Connect Visa Debit card- it is unlikely to have a cheque guarantee though if that is something you are particularly after.

Didn't mean to upset you! Is it possible that your friend requested their replacement before Barclays stopped issuing them? I am aware of a few people who have done this and received a Connect card. There have been people on here also commenting on this. Also, all of the old Woolwich customers that have transferred over that had Electron cards have had them changed to Connect cards and have been told that Barclays no longer issue Electron. So, if they still in fact do issue them then I am confused...
Anyway, was only trying to help, hope you get your problem sorted.

no sorry daisy duck you didnt upset me, sorry if i sounded harsh, i think if you say your card is lost etc, and you have a visa electron they will automatically give you an connect full visa if the computer says yes, ( automatically without even asking) yet if you do have bad credit they will still send out electron cards,

i just felt a little stupid telling my freind to do this and they still sent hjer an electron only 3 weeks ago, so id just say if you do , do this dont guarentee on getting a full visa but it may be worth ago, but if you have asked for an upgrade within 6 months dont bother.

    sorry again xx
