ESTA Refund due to Corona

Hi, among the many inconveniences of my flight being cancelled is I'm left with 4 ESTAs which are virtually useless. Although these are normally long running we all have to update our passports in the near future so ESTA only runs up to passport expiry date. Has there been any communication as to whether ESTA can be cancelled and refunded in these circumstances?

There is probably somewhere between fat chance or no chance of getting any kind of refund for this.
  • ...so there is a chance :-) To be honest I did think this was the case but when you sum up the total number of ESTA that will be rendered useless unless we can travel within a certain time then that will be a significant amount. Since the US gvmt can't even sort a care package for own key workers at the moment it doesn't surprise me.

Your only option is to ask them. If they say no, there is no point arguing and you can say at least you tried. I really can't imagine them saying yes.

Other option is if you can bundle it is on a travel insurance claim along with other things, obviously the excess would not make it worth doing on its own.

an ESTA is £10ish, I cant believe anyone is trying to claim that back , I believe there is zero chance of it happening anyway.

Plus the fact you put them on passports which expire in less than 2 years is no concern of theirs.

Another 'no chance' vote from me and also surprised you would even ask given the cost.
Let's focus on what is really important.
  • Thanks, agree little chance, just wondered if it was possible.
I'm not sure why you have to state "Let's focus on what is really important".
Everyone's circumstances are different and what is perceived as important or not important can be individual or widespread. Maybe this virus has hit me really hard and I'm now scraping every bit of cash together that I can to save my family from starving. £40 might make the difference of food for a week.

    Is that the case then?
