Paying balance by credit card

Hi
I have paid a holiday company by debit card and they have asked for the balance to be paid by credit card due to world event with the virus. So 2 questions.
Does this sound normal practice and am I covered for anything should this company fold. Sadly they are not abta

If you pay more than £100 by credit card, the entire purchase price is protected. It seems the holiday company is actually trying to provide you with added protection in the event of financial failure.

Certainly my understanding is that if any part of the cost is paid by CC, the entire cost is protected.
