    I think you have to get the creditor's agreement to a deferral if you want to avid an impact on your credit score.
  • I'm self employed - and anyone going into being self employed needs to be ACUTELY aware of the risks involved - that for the most part, if it goes massively **** up in any way (including this) you have less protection. 

    Anyone not happy with that risk needs to avoid being self employed, as it's a huge risk and not something everyone can deal with. 
    That risk can be mitigated with savings / insurance etc, but at the end of the day if you don't have a net to fall back on, some self-responsibility needs to be taken.

    Again, I am self employed and I'm in the same boat - I took the risk when setting out, and right now it's difficult. But it's a risk I took.

    Which tax benefits are those? There's none of note I can think of - and we have to fill out our own return every year which is a complete ballache.
