Found one crawling up kitchen wall last night, I had a problem with them a few years back and traced it to a Mother in Laws Tongue which I suspected must have been attacked by them coming from a new houseplant plant I'd brought in. Can't see any damage on any plants leaves, is the only way to check to take plants from the pot and examine roots?

I get an odd one in the house now and again.
I only have ivy plants and a few dozen cacti of various sizes and none seem to be ailing in anyway like you would usually get with plants I've had vine weevil damage outside.
I'd be interested in any replies you get as I've always just put that "odd one" down to the window being open from dawn to dusk everyday when weather permits.

Where it originated depends to an extent on how well your doors fit and the window use, as above.
Now is too soon for outdoor overwintered grubs to be adults, so this one has either hidden away for a few months or it's originated within the artificial indoor environment. Sadly, there's no way to tell that I can think of.

The grubs eat the roots, the adults eat the leaves.  The only way to find out for sure would be to tip out the plant and gently dig about the roots for the 'c' shaped creamy coloured grubs.  If none, then likely that you just have the one adult that somehow survived the winter.

I've checked the plants in my kitchen and can't see anything but just clocked another tonight, could a few be hidden away? (where?!)

Or maybe fresh adults emerging from grubs in the pot's compost?
