Coleorton - yes or no?

Hi guys
I'm looking for some local knowledge on this area of Leicestershire. How would you describe it? Any pros and cons?
To put this request in some context, we are a young couple looking to settle down in a safe area with a nice community feel.
Thank you.

The immediate area is rural and moderately attractive.  Coleorton is small with few facilities.  It is spread out without (from memory) any real centre so I am not sure you would find a tight knit village community.  The nearby towns to the south are ex-mining and still active quarrying areas and in my view are pretty grim (sorry to anyone who lives there}, though Ashby de la Zouch where you would probably go to shop is OK.  Further west again is ex-mining and industrial. Generally the area is in need of regeneration.
I think you can find "nicer" areas  though obviously it depends on what you can afford and where you work.
