Hi
about two months ago my sister and I booked a weeks holiday to Cancun for the end of November with TUI.
we paid £250, £125 each.
Neither of us booked travel insurance. I’ve always bought it when I really pay for the holiday. She though her bank covered her, but she’s realised it’s just Europe.
Paid by debit card.
The other part of the deposit is due the last day of March.
If things are normal in November next year, we’d like to go.  But it was scary the way the holiday firms wouldn’t allow people to cancel holidays when this was kicking off.  And I’m on a TUI Facebook site and there are some brits abroad not sure how to get home and not getting much response from TUI.
There are suggestions of a resurgence of covid 19 next winter.
Will TUI survive the next few months?
If I didn’t pay the other £250, what would TUI come after me for?  Or the rest of the deposit £250 or the rest of the holiday - £3750!
anyone else considering what to do in a similar position?

    Best contact TUI for advice.
End of March seems early for settlement of balance.

No, the end of March is when he has to pay the rest of the deposit.

Which he has to pay or TUI could feasibly take legal action against him. In any case its pointless worrying about a November holiday. Keep up the payments or you get nothing back at all.

I think it is just the second top-up part of the deposit which is due at the end of March. Full payment is normally 12 weeks before departure.

As to whether TUI will chase you for the non-payment of the remaining balance, not sure.  I believe that they certainly used to.

I wouldn’t be to concerned about the Facebook stories. As a package holiday company and having a fleet of aircraft at their disposal, TUI have always been fairly good at stepping up and repatriating customers should that be necessary.

Martin covered an issue that sounds similar to yours on his money show, was only on last week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday.
