Website secure connection? Email ?

Hi everyone, am kinda having a problem or concern
Basically recently I was browsing pc world and the secure padlock is a ! Icon saying connection is not secure? I never seen this before , has something changed ? And Hotmail or outlook email is doing this too saying not secure connection?  
Actually while am at it, there seems to be one tech thread in forum, that's new and it says it not secure connection but other threads have padlock?

Make sure that your internet browser is fully up to date. Also, if you click where it says not secure, it will tell you the reason.

My browser is updated, It doesn't really give much information, I done everything I can think of but its odd, How some parts of the website are not secure, E.g main page is fine but I search some products that page is insecure, same here most of the posts are secure but some are classed as not secured?
Am just generally curious. If anyone can provide information,

It could be that there is insecure content on the page. If a website has an SSL, all content needs to be https, if there are http references still, you will get a warning.

If it is a public page (doesnt require signing in to get the error), you can put the URL in here and see the insecure elements; https://www.whynopadlock.com/
