This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.

Morning all! Blimey! Never though I'd be first up ever!! Cat is on the windowsill and looking at the glowing thing in the sky, it's actually properly out as if this were a mid summer morning....Yesterday I attempted to screw the spring clips into the blocks I'd adhesived to the gargae wall uprights. They fell off. Second attempt today after less adhesive yesterday. If not, I'm going to have to borrow an SDS drill and hope OH will drill....Only on my first cup of tea so expect me to ramble..It's grass cutting day for the garden today, it should really have been cut in January but I was in denial, saying things like, But its January! I know it's growing but it shouldn't be! Not till March! Also decide where some plants are going. The bay bush is not happy out the front, I'll put something else in there instead and work on screening plants at the side neighbours.Probably making a lasagne today, there are pasta sheets to use up [look at me swearing! Is it like Beetlejuice? Pasta! Pasta! Pasta!] and I really do have to jar up the kimchi. It's in a plastic tub in the fridge and I swear the smell of garlic would knock anyone who wasn't feeling 100% off their feet. that, or cure you....Anyone want to test it out? I can feel myself getting all antibacterial every time i open the door...One less bag of stuff int he house, OHs dad came round eysterday and took it off him at the doorstep, hope the kids enjoy having something new to play with. Forgot to put the Mothers Day card in there, will have to throw at them from the car as we speed past later on..Right, enough of this waffling...hope you're all symptom free and rocking your isolation like Mothers Day Cluckers
Channel your inner Samuel L....Super Sunday!

Morning,
Happy Mother's Day
This is going to be a very strange day today, as no mothers day celebrating will be done. My mom is in a nursing home - so they are in lockdown and my DD lives in the capital and is a nurse, so wont be here either.
Today I shall be having a film day. After hanging out the washing in this glorious but freezing cold sunshine. OH will cook the dinner , for pudding I have found something I had in for Christmas and we have a box of chocolates too.
Enjoy mothers day in the best way you can

Morning everyone
taff - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Sunny bright but cold start with a frost this morning.
DH in the bath, I've already had a bath, and just finished my brekkie of porridge. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was ham, scotch egg, pork pie (menfolk), salad, jacket potato, cheese and beans. Roast pork for lunch today.
I was working yesterday - and assume for the moment that we're still working - but very restricted with what we can and can't do. We're just going day by day and we get direction as and when needed. Shopping here is still difficult and quite expecting further difficulties over the next few days as more announcements are made.
Keep safe and well x

Hi taff, Hope you and yours are well. I slept much better last night so I feel quite human again. I had a bit of a panic yesterday afternoon but then sense prevailed. It doesn't help that my seasonal hayfever is kicking in and while my rational brain is telling me that's what it is my inner chimp is racing round wringing its hands.
Anyway we are going out today to take some keys to Chris for Laura's house so he can crash there if need be. He may not need to as he seems to think the panic buying is starting to calm down thankfully. We won't see Chris as he and Crystal are going kayaking. I'm very lucky to be able to speak to both my children almost every day (Chris rings on his journey home from work every night) and see them very frequently as well. I'd rather that than a bunch of flowers and a duty visit on Mother's day.
Other than that it will be another quiet day of sewing and pottering.

Good morning, and thanks Taff, for starting off, hope you are ok.Well, another quiet day lies ahead, after yesterday's quiet day!! I risked going to the Post office yesterday to stock up on stamps - I usually have a stock, but it had run down - there were only 2 of us in there, if it had been crowded i wouldn'r have gone in. There were plenty of people about on the main street of our little town, but still room to avoid getting close to others. I noticed that 2 of the chemists were only letting in a few prople at a time, good idea I thought. At least 2 of the charity shops were closed, not that I was going to go in, I just passed them on my way home. The rest of the day was spent just diddling round the house. We have a family whatsapp group that is proving to be a godsend, and had a Facetime with one of the family on Friday evening. Also my neice has resurrected a whatsapp group she started last year when arranging her daughter's wedding, so I was in contact with that side of the family, and there's email of course, I heard from a nephew who is working in the Middle East - he had planned to come home in May for his son's 18th but now doesn't know if he can, and the 18th party is now cancelled anyway. Our lives have changed drastically over the last fortnight, but I'm so pleased we have tech, it makes such a difference.I was thinking about Holly Harvey, and wondering how she is - hope you're ok Holly, if you're reading along. We were going to go out to the coast today for a walk, but apparently everyone else is, so we'll think of somewhere else, even if we just walk about locally.Hope you are all ok, take care folks13

Morning folks.Yesterday DM's visitor brought his own soap and towel with him! Very thoughtful though we have paper towels and soap in a big pump thing which can be pressed by elbow or wrist. He and DM kept the regulation two metres apart all afternoon.Whilst they were busy doing the crossword and playing Scrabble I made a start on cleaning the dining room. For the most part I was making mud pies. 🤣 The bits I've done will need to have a second wash and there are areas I couldn't reach like the skirting boards and the picture rail. I tried to clean the skirting board...not a clever idea for my new hip.If the sun stays as bright as it is now I hope to get out for a stroll at the very least. My allergic reaction to the smelly lilies is turning into catarrh, I could use some fresh air.Stay safe everyone.
Happy Sunday to all.13 -
Morning All
It's a beautiful sunny morning, one load on the line and another of the DGC's bedding just about to go out, I'll get DS1 to strip his bed in a minute when he's had a shower.
We had a great day yesterday, I got the DGC to deliver notes to the residents of our street asking if they wanted a whatsapp group starting, most of them have replied that they do so I'll get that going. We were so good as a small community when the Beast from the East was with us I'm sure we can do the same again, if nothing else it'll keep everyone safe and not in need.
The garden got a good going over yesterday, DGS was an absolute star digging holes and helping to plant new shrubs, he didn't stop all day. We walked down to Aldi and bought more plants so we had to go out and plant them too. After all day outside the DGC were both in bed for 7pm and DGS slept for 13 hours!
Right, must get them all dressed, stay safe and take care. XX13 -

Happy mums day to everyone. Mum is doing well and I had 2 separate texts from different neighbours yesterday to offer shopping and any help they help they can its very reassuring. I also had a text from my lovely next door neighbour (I have one of each!!) today asking me if I need anything ...shes an NHS ambulance driver so is out all different hours. Dont need anything atm but again the offer is really appreciated. Maybe the world is not so bad after all
Food will be a chicken roast (all stock from the fridge/freezer) and a portion of rhubarb crumble for pud. Usual tidy up today then probably a film later. Have a good day all and stay safe11 -
Morning all
Nice bright day here got a wash on the go and will hang it out for a while its great drying weather. People round here are treating this lock down like a holiday there was a photo of Bognor seafront (which is local ish) and it was packed with people walking, our road had loads of neighbors out in the street talking and dropping kids off for sleepovers !! it makes me so mad they are acting like its a holiday !!
Our lock down is good for the house though I have given the kitchen a good clean, yesterday I hoovered my car out and then did dd's which was disgusting !! Today I might clean the downstairs windows and oh and dd could clean the cars.
DD is cooking mothers day lunch of roast pork and all the trimmings and we are going to pretend to go to the pub laterwe will either sit outside or if too cold in the conservatory and one of us will go in to get the drinks and a small bowl of nuts like they do in the pub
Nels have you seen 'self made' on netflix ? well worth a watch its a mini series about a rag to riches true story xx
Did you all see that John Lewis are shutting all stores from Monday ? I do think this is going to get worse before it gets better.
Have good days all and stay safe xx
