Do I need to pay balance on UK holiday

We have a cottage booked in Dorset for the first week of June and I paid the deposit a few weeks ago on my credit card and accept that I may lose this. However, the company are saying that I will still need to pay the balance when it is due as that's what is stated in their terms and conditions. I'm wondering if I could ask the credit card company to stop the balance payment although I don't know where I stand legally. I have emailed them again to ask them to consider just accepting the deposit which was aorund £200 but they are standing firm and saying things may have changed by the beginning of June. That seems unlikely to me and if I pay the full balance, the chance of getting a refund seems slim. I have annual travel insurance but not sure if this would cover it. Just wondering if anyone could advise me please?

Have you read them to find out if this is indeed the case?

Yep, and it specifically mentions that pandemics are not covered! I think I will have to pay but feel like there definitely isn't a "we're all in this together" feeling from the company.

I think you'll have to pay, otherwise they'll be within their rights to pursue you for the balance of those are the terms you agreed to. It's possible that the country may be under tighter restrictions in June, and the venue may have to cancel. In that case, you'd be entitled to a full refund. If not, what's to stop you going and having the holiday?
