Bmi Virus Help

I didn't think I was in a gov vulnerable category but someone pointed out that I was related to my bmi which is 49
I work in a school but staff with health issues on the gov site had been advised to stay home and self isolate. With the schools closed but only to set children and possibility of still being classed as a social gathering I am not sure what to do. I would rather be helping and doing my part but on other had don't want it effecting my health plus I have a pregnant daughter at home whom I am scared of infecting.
My Question is: Does anyone know why the virus could cause someone whom is over weight with a bmi of over 40 more issues.
Any advice appreciated.

it will probably be because your body is finding it harder to breathe/function.  I have no idea if that is right but i am guessing it may be.  I am the same

Do you have breathing / lung issues ?
levels of oxygen in the blood stream possibly as high bmi effects it.

It's because a high bmi puts you at greater risk of stroke, coronary disease and type 2 diabetes to name a few of the serious ones. Any of these on their own would put you in the Covid high risk group.
  • Thank you for all your help, makes me understand why a little better. Going to talk to my employers on monday.
