UK hen do

Hi there,
last year we booked a uk hen do with a company called stag and hen city. The hen do was meant to take place in Manchester first weekend of April. The package included a hotel stay in Manchester, activity through the day then entry to a nightclub in the evening. The company won’t issue a refund as their terms state we are not covered if events are cancelled due to things like covid-19. However I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t have been in the terms before it was booked. Does anyone know what we can do?

I would reread the terms & conditions and make sure you are clear on what is possible and what isn't.

On Friday the government placed new restrictions on certain points for social gatherings, including night-clubs - so the organisers may now have changed policy on refunds or credit for future use.

Did you pay by credit card?  A S75 claim might be a last resort option.
  • Do you have a copy of the terms and conditions that were valid at the time you booked? They might have sneakily changed them, is that possible? I think unless the location you have booked to go to is declared as a no-travel zone you unfortunately don't have many rights :(
  • We are having the same problem with this company.  Asked for a refund in May to be hit with sarcastic and rude emails - that was if they replied at all. It’s only since we have threatened with legal action they have replied to the previous email ‘sorting it’ apparently. I Would also recommend leaving a review on trustpilot as they are quick to reply to any negativity quicker than an email sent months ago!!

You do realise the thread is from March but you must have known that as you searched the forums.
You should have started your own thread.
