Hello
I am inexperienced driver so this may be a silly question. My battery went flat yesterday not sure why but I couldnt start the car. I got a battery charger and charged the battery for about 5-6hrs. I was able to start the car and did about 7 mile drive in the town. All appears to be fine but error message: check engine is constantly on and I am not sure what to do about it. Do I need to take it to the garage or just ignore?
Please see below photo of my dashboard. My car is Auris 57reg automatic.

  • You need to get an obd2 code reader, plug it in the diagnostic socket and see what the fault code is. Then you can reset the code and light with the same tool; about £10 eBay or Amazon.

Battery may be goosed, but try disconnecting it by undoing a terminal connection, leave for 15 minutes then reattach and see if the error resets itself.
