    We're about two months into buying a house, and except for a couple of reasonably quick enquiries outstanding on our side, will be ready to proceed with exchanging contracts in the next couple of weeks according to our solicitor.
    That's quick.
    I've mailed the estate agent twice for an update on the chain (us, our seller, her seller and a new build at the top), but she hasn't got back to me.
    Let the solicitors deal with it.
    The house we are buying and the house that our vendor is buying are through the same estate agency, so they must have some idea of what is going on?
    So...
    You -> (EA) -> A -> (EA) -> B -> (Diff EA) -> New Build?

    Bet I know where the delay is... Do you have any idea how near completion that new build is?
    What is the etiquette around putting a little note through our sellers door with an e-mail address or phone number for us, and a bit of a spiel of we are still 100% committed to buying your house regardless of the current Corona virus stuff?
    Let the solicitors deal with it.
    I am finding all the formalities through solicitors a bit impersonal
    Good! It should be impersonal.
    Yeah, the whole thing has been very fast. We are renting currently, and the whole process from mortgage offer, getting search results back etc etc has been very fast as opposed to what I have read. I will get in touch with our solicitor tomorrow - the overview page shows the vendors solicitors have sent a mail on Friday, so there will perhaps be an update.

    To clarify, the chain is:

    Us (renting currently - nothing to sell)
    Our Seller
    Her Seller
    Builder / New build

    Everyone is using the same estate agents except the builder at the top - not sure which agent they are through. In essence there are three properties involved, two are with the same agent, and then the new build with ? which agent. The person moving out of our sellers potential new house is going to the new build. I don't know where that is in terms of being completed etc, and it was a concern that I had but didn't ask at the time. I guess in my mind, once our solicitor gives it all the go ahead, then we will hopefully find out exactly where everyone is in the process. I'm hoping that the people at the top are either going to move to rented if the house isn't built, or that it is built. I get that people will get their homes on the market good and early to allow for the marketing side of things, but hopefully it isn't still a hole in the ground!

    As to Thruglemir, I don't know when the expected completion date is. I guess if they are still building it, there could be a downing of tools due to the current corona stuff, and that could push things back. It's all just guesswork at the moment hey. I know that our seller is a foster carer and has a number of school age children with her, so I can't imagine she is going to be keen on moving until her house is ready at the very least.
