AVRO not respecting MSE quotations
Options
I had forgotten that I once used Avro 4 years ago and switched to another as their renewal costs were uncompetitive. I was with them for Electricity only.
I am now able to go for Dual fuel, am with PFP/Green at present - it seems a fact in the energy market, that companies tend to hike charges after the first year, effectively encouraging one to switch - Ofgen should look into this underhand practice.
Anyway MSE search showed Avro as the cheapest supplier for my duel fuel deal. However the Avro welcome pack does not respect the tariff quoted on the MSE comparison site. I was surprised that they still had my old account open, notwithstanding there has been no activity of over 3 years!
They make no mention that my chosen tariff won't be respected. From other posts here it seams this isn't a mistake - just plain dishonest.
I will be reporting this to Ofgen, as Avro should be given warning/fines.

You are now with Avro but the welcome pack does not respect the tariff quoted?
They make no mention that your chosen tariff wont be respected?
Are they saying you are an existing customer and not giving you the tariff that you changed to through the MSE site?

OP, fyi:
If I enter my own usage figures the cheapest Avro tariff available on the Cheap Energy Club is called ‘Simple&Superfixed’.
An Avro tariff (exclusive to the CEC) called ‘Simple and mSave12M’ is also available but is slightly more expensive than ‘Simple&Superfixed’
Both tariffs are 12-month fixed tariffs with £0 exit fees.
Avro’s cheapest dual fuel tariff ‘Simple&Superfixed’ is available to new and existing customers by accessing Avro’s website directly.

Why go dual fuel? Most money savers discover separate suppliers are cheaper.
Inflation is usually the reason prices are higher at the end of a fixed deal. The energy industry is much more transparent than say the car insurance industry so that existing customers are not so likely to be ripped off compared to new customers.
I've recently paid an exit fee to get off a fixed deal early because prices have dropped. Suppliers are open about availability of cheaper tariffs.
Why should the regulator get involved because a supplier doesn't offer a price listed on some random third party website which only exists to make its owners money? Sign up direct to get the deal you want and cut out the middle man and his commission.0 -

MSE's quote is totally different to the confirmation received from AVRO - their confirmation I received on Friday says they will start on 1st April is what they call their "simple" tariff, for electricity only (original quote was dual fuel).
I would content that this is either a huge c*ck-up, or dishonest practice. Whats the point is getting a quote from MSE, who forwards to offer to AVRO, who then totally ignores the quote?
I will be calling AVRO on Monday and having some strong words - if they don't respect their original offer - they will be on my "do not use list".
I will post feedback after that conversation0 -
Energy suppliers are under no obligation to accept customers be they from third party sites like the CEC or direct applicants. If you requested one tariff and they are offering another, more expensive one I suggest you contact them to point out their mistake. Either way, you have lost nothing as you have 14 days to change your mind about switching to them so can stop the switch without penalty.
I would contend (not content, which you clearly are not) that you go back to the drawing board and find another supplier. HTH.1 -
Hang on a minute.
You were with Avro for electricity only.
You switched away and have now tried to sign up for dual fuel to return to Avro.
Avro have quoted you for electricity only using your old account details.
This is not anything underhand or sneaky. Avro's systems look to have rejected your gas supply as they have no record if it. Phone up and ask them to manually create a gas account and complete your switch with the correct dual fuel deal. It should be that simple but will probably involve some faffing about by Avro.

Good advice - sorted. They have also closed the old account.
If there is something to learn about Avro, is if you leave them, note they don't automatically close yr account - you have to ask them to do so once the account becomes dormant.0
