Communal Electricity-Landlords refusing to pay
I wonder if anyone can advise please? I own a flat in a block of 6. Npower supply the electricity for the communal hallways. 2 of the landlords have refused to pay their share (a sixth) over several years and despite several attempts by me and the other landlords and looking at lots of different options with Npower we are no further forward. The bill comes to the property address but 2 of us have been managing this for years. Is there anything at all we can do?
If we switch suppliers would they put the account in all 6 owners names?
Any help would be most welcome. Thank you

What name is on the bill from Npower?

If 4 of you are paying the whole bill then I suspect your only option is to sue the 2 other landlords for their share.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

What happens to the other Communal costs - insurance, building maintenance ?????????????????Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

As above. Normally blocks of flats have a service charge to cover items like the common parts. Lights with LED bulbs are very cheap to run, however in there is a socket in the hallway, some tenants have been known to connect a fan heater and use it in their flat!

Who owns the Freehold on the building?Normally there would be a management company handling the exterior maintenance and common areas on behalf of the freeholder.0
