Uber driver

Given public socialising has now been shut down, my takings are down almost 90%, just curious what financial help there is for those taxi drivers given the dramatic loss of earnings?

I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you

You would be far better off if you were employed and got laid off. At present, if you are self employed, all you get is a six month deferral on your self assessment tax due 31 July 2020 (if any) and a 3 month holiday on VAT payments (but I doubt you are registered for VAT anyway). You might seek a business interruption loan, but if you are borrowing to cover living expenses, that might be difficult. Universal credit is all that is left, and it is not designed to help the self employed (and is unavailable if you have £16,000 savings or more). I think the Government may bow to the increasing pressure from self employed people who say they are being virtually ignored and do something more, but we have to wait and see.
