Hi everyone
just some help and guidance on a holiday dilemma. My wife and two kids are booked to go to Spain 21st May 2020. We still have to pay for the rest of the holiday for next week (Week commencing 25/03/20). Our dilemma is, 6 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes and I’m in the high rise category and as of today the government want me to self isolate. I’m concerned that if my family still go on holiday they might bring the virus back with them. My wife is thinking that they shouldn’t go away on holiday just in case something like that happens and under the present climate we don’t want to take chances.
I no the holiday is in May but I’m worried about quite a few things on the personal front and financial front: do we pay the rest of the holiday off next week. Can we cancel or do we have to pay the rest of the holiday: what are we entitled to? a refund of our deposit or full money back if we have to pay the rest of the holiday off.

I’d be very grateful for any help
PS. We haven’t taken out travel insurance

If you choose to cancel and the flights/accom are still operating then any refund would be based on the terms and conditions...loss of deposit maybe?
Many similar posts re "should I pay the balance" if you have a read of the board. If you do and the holiday is cancelled then you should be able to get refund. If you do and the holiday is not cancelled, with no insurance you would probably be looking at costs to change dates0 -
There is a difference between knowing the cost of everything and the value of it. Of course you'd still like to have a holiday abroad this summer but is that more important than than you or your family's health and well being? Spain will not be anywhere near over the Coronavirus epidemic by the time of your holiday. my suggestion would be not to lay any more money and even if youn if you lose every penny of of the amount you've already paid, that is better than you or a family member risking becoming infected and being repatriated in a coffin. You have plenty of years ahead of you for holidays abroad but only if you're ultra sensible now and avoid even the slightest risk. What are you thinking of, booking a holiday abroad in the current health climate and having no travel insurance? Please don,t even begin to think of taking such a risk.2

Without insurance cover (!) I would cancel and just lose the deposit, assuming you paid the full deposit and did not just pay part, meaning that if you cancel you may have more to pay. If you can, talk to your doctor but I suspect the advice would be for you not to travel and if you had taken out insurance, this would have been a case that could have justified cancellation and an insurance claim but you haven't so that is just a hypothetical situation0

Being realistic, if the whole family have not gone into isolation then there is no change in the risk between going on holiday or not.0
