Any Vulnerable or Elderly Shoppers Unable to Use Tescos under Pandemic Rationing Rules

Hi! Just wondering if any elderly or vulnerable shoppers who have tried to use Tescos stores after their new arrangements? I'm using a crutch at present due to a bad knee. I went to Tescos after my night shift, and had to come back home empty handed. Firstly, all but the car park entrances were shut, so I had to hobble around to the car park and was surprised to see a queue of about 50 plus people snaking around waiting to enter the store. The Security Guards politely told me what was happening. Tescos were restricting shopping hours to control some shoppers' tendency to panic buy. So it was first come first serve, and I would have to join the back of the queue. How can disabled and elderly shoppers stand in a long queue to get a chance to pick up some shopping? I just called a taxi and went home. I'm not mad at Tescos, I'm just really disappointed that they haven't thought how to cater for people who can't queue, and who haven't got anyone to go shopping for them. I work for a fairly large business, so I understand that sometimes the policy makers can't see the wood for the trees, and sometimes miss really obvious things. So, I'd like to ask forum members who are trying to be independent and look after themselves how they are coping with trying to shop at Tescos. Please comment below, as I think Tesco management need the feedback.

It's a good point, bu you're probably better off contacting Tesco directly (via Twitter or Facebook perhaps?) if you want them to see your feedback and respond to it, rather then rely on them to pick up anything posted on this forum.
  • It doesn't specify who it classes as 'vulnerable', but the Tesco website states that between 9-10am Monday, Wednesday and Friday it will only be letting elderly and vulnerable shoppers enter to do their shopping. (Excluding Tesco express stores).
