Driving Instructors

As driving instructors we are all pretty much classed ads self employed and very high risk of Covid-19 due to close proximity to students.. we understand that if we fall ill or self isolate during this time, we may be entitled to claim benefits... my question is this tho... if we are unable to work due to our students either self isolating, cancelling as a precaution or cancelling due to the driving tests now being cancelled for up to 3 months, do we have any access to public funds?

no ....you are hung out to dry at moment. UC / wtc / or interest free loan (however i think se and sole traders are going to have trouble getting the loans) And the loans will need paid back.0

You can claim Universal Credit https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/
What you may be entitled to will depend on your household circumstances.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1
