My trip to Happy Pensioner Hour went well - a battery of staff at the front doors turning away those who were not eligible and a civilised atmosphere in the shop. Waitrose had loo rolls though I didn't need any so left it for others.MONOGRAM - yes, the chap is still coming unless he goes down with the virus. The workmen are only in one room with no physical contact and I keep DM's room door closed. If it has to wait then...it has to wait. At least the dry rot remedial work has finished, the laminate is back down and the room cleared of all the rubbish. I can start the big clean up.DM's visitor will be coming this afternoon, he's very careful about his own health as well as DM's so he'll keep his distance. They sit and do the Times crossword and then play Scrabble so I expect some vigourous handwashing taking place.I hope that everyone can find some peace and happiness, Eric Idle's annoying song seems appropriate now - Always look on the bright side of life, if you can! :14

Hi everyone, It seems you are all coping, though I wouldn't have thought anything else from the OS'ers. I wonder if we'll get an influx from the other boards looking for help - maybe that's and idea for a thread.
We came home yesterday to stock up with medicines mainly before going back to spend another 10 days or so in Yorkshire before Steve's next hospital appointment. That's bothering me because we've been distancing ourselves from people as much as possible but he out-patients clinic is always packed. He can't miss it but I have come up with a plan - there is usually a short wait for bloods then a long wait to see the doctor for results which are usually everything normal how are you feeling, good. So I have told him to have the bloods taken then ask for a phone call if there is any problem (he needs the blood taken to make sure they can go ahead with his treatment later in the day). The treatment centre is usually quiet and well segregated because most people there are immune compromised anyway, so hopefully that won't be a problem.
I went out early, the local co-op was quiet and I managed to get bread, rolls and bananas and picked up Steve's prescription so I won't be going out again this weekend. We do have a dishwasher being delivered because ours gave up thee ghost last week but we will keep out of the way of the deliverers. It's becoming exhausting trying to work out how to avoid people.
Stay safe.10 -
Bright but quite windy and cold. I put a coloured load in the washer and its dancing on the line, will not take long to dry. If its the same tomorrow the towels will get done.
Not a lot to report, our pastor came round yesterday putting notes through the door, he has set up a centre at the chapel, cleared the freezer so anyone can put stuff in if their freezers are full and they will go shopping. I hope the stores wake up to whats happening and start posting staff on the door only letting the elderly in. It really is disgraceful, I wonder how much of it is going to end up in landfill!!!
Moan over for today..........Keep well everybody............and we will come out the other side.10 -
Morning all, day 8 I believe, but I don't think I will count anymore as I don't even know what day it is half the time
I have just had a delivery of M&S flowers and chocs, part of my Mothers Day gifts ( shhh! I think there are more presents on the way too ) I shall be totally spoilt by my DD, I just wish she could bring them herself. The driver left them on the doorstep and I have put them outside the back door til I get myself organised, I'm not even dressed yet. Oh the shame !!!I have stripped the bed and put the WM on, the bedding will have to wait it's turn though. It's a good drying day so I will hang the washing out when it's ready. I want to clean my bedroom carpet too so that will be enough housework for today, got to pace myself you know
I had to take a "3x table" maths test last night, it seems DGD IS the teacher and I'm the pupil ! I got a few right so I was a " good girl ". I think she's going to be a head mistress as she's just too bossy to be a teacher
DD and SiL have also sorted their school situation out too. They will both be seconded to different larger schools in the area and all the children will go to one school. It seems as they are taking 4 schools together and the teachers will only be required to work 1 1/2 days a week each and on a rota basis. They will work from home on the other days, online etc. so hopefully the DGC can stay home with either DD or SiL. Sorted- yea!!!Gers it will be a great day when it's all done and dusted, cleaned and polished
Monna my posts are always that way, waffly rubbish, so nothing will change here
Right WM has finished, so I will empty it then put another wash on, but then I must get dressed or the neighbours will talk about me again ! Oh ! I forgot I don't have any neighbours at present
Take care and soldier on. Hugs to all in need or not.
nan xx

A little shopping update for you - there were queues to get into T*sco, products limited to 2 of each thing per person. OH managed most of what we needed though not quite everything. No loo roll, though we didn't need that, half of the shelves completely empty. Fresh fruit and veg in good supply. He was quite nastily surprised to see a number of large families filling trollies with as much as possible, dividing it up into baskets with 2 items each in the checkout queues and then telling the staff that they were not together, not related, oh no. Checkout lady explained the high number of security staff - this was due to people fighting in the shop, the store he goes to is in the inner city area of Birmingham.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10 -
Morning everyone. We are ok.
OH cough is going he feels much better. Of course we are still in. Getting bored now. We had a takeaway last night delivered. We told them to leave it on the step. Not sure what we will have for tea yet
Sad I will not be able to go to the crem tomorrow and I have no flowers for my mum it’s the 1st time since she died I have not been on the day9 -
CSARINA - Waitrose had staff on the doors filtering out customers. Here's a pic of the room with the flooring back down, the bit on the right is where the plasterer was working. He's going to put up fresh wallpaper on that small wall. Surprisingly, he said that he couldn't match the woodchip paper as that particular one isn't made any more - who knew that there were grades of woodchip? Anyway, that wall is so small in width and doesn't connect with another wall as there's a cupboard at right angles to it so a mismatch won't be seen. Or cared about.

And here's another showing just a bit of the muck to clear up!

Gers wow the builders have done a really good job. All kudos to them.

Gers, thank you for the info re Waitrose, unfortunately we are not a posh enough or big enough town to have one. Apart from which as we are self isolating I would not be going. However I hope the 3 supermarkets we have in the town have now wised up and put people on the doors. especially those younger people who are pushing the elderly aside to get at the food. I'm afraid I would be putting my foot out to trip them up. No respect for the elderly. It would appear that we are not as entitled as younger people to eat. Very selfish. I wonder how much of what has been bought will end up in the bin because they bought so much they cannot use it and it goes off?

I got my mam's two magazines and a loaf of bread for myself. Mam wanted chicken and broccoli...no chicken, well not much meat at all and no veg. I spent a nice couple of hours....my dad thinks it's lovely I'll not be going to work....'You can come and see me every day'...….Well yes, as long as I don't get ill!
Looks like DD and little grand daughter will be in hospital till Monday...they want to keep an eye on her blood sugars. I was hoping for some cuddles this afternoon, but I'll see them soon enough.
Eldest DD sent me some lovely flowers for Mother's Day.
Well I'm going to iron my work clothes...though I may not need them for a while!
