Hello!
This is my first post and it seems I’ve tried everywhere to try and get advice on my specific situation. So here goes on here. I’ll try make it as uncomplicated as possible.

Basically, I bought a house for my mother to live in, however she moved my brother in without my permission and he hasn’t been paying rent. I came home a couple of days ago to stay with my mother and by brother has been very abusive towards her and me. It’s what’s described as coercive abuse. He’s controlling over my mother, threatens her, is violent and says degrading things to her. He’s also done it to me since I’ve been staying for the past two days. On top of this he plays loud music at 3am and when asked nicely to turn down, I’m met with very aggressive behavior. I basically want him out of my house and away from my mother as her mental health is deteriorating because of it as he won’t leave the property.
As he doesn’t pay rent and I haven’t given him persimmon to live at my property, am I allowed to change the locks and kick him out? What are my rights and how can I go about getting him evicted from my house?
Thanks
Thanks

Does your mother want him out?
you know she’ll just let him back in...2021 GC £1365.71/ £24002 -
No legal paperwork required. Just wait until he goes out then change the locks. However, if mum will let him back in then this would be a waste of time and money.2

You need to post this in the Housing and Renting board, even though family related, this is more about eviction.2

Where was he living before? Does he work?
If he has no contract for being a tenant then eviction notices etc surely arent needed.
The owner has giving permission to her mother to stay as a tenant and the brother is merely a guest. Can you not get police involved?
Is your mother going to continue letting him in? Could be a future problem.0 -
Does your mother pay you rent or anything that could be interpreted as rent? If so you may be her landlord and it's her property while she's renting it from you. Thst would mean its up to her who she has to stay and not you.
Unless he has an official agreement with her he is likely to be a member if her householder rather than a lodger. She can ask him to leave and if he refuses she can call the police or change the locks when he is out.
So does your mother want him out?Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
