    Is the payment very recent? I think sometimes the payment comes before the letter explaining it (which is the way you'd prefer it to happen, isn't it?)

    It's not unusual for payment to be received before the letter. If you ring DWP Monday morning when they open they will tell you what the decision was.

    Letter will come in a couple of days.
    Amount is just over 3.5 months @ std on both.

    But (poppy12345) might know this. If he was on DLA, would it not be backdated to the start of the PIP claim?

    That's correct, it's not backdated if transferring from DLA.

    I do think it's a shame the original post has been deleted - it's clear that this is something which does happen (money reaches bank account before the letter explaining how much and why) so it might have helped someone else.

    The other forum I frequent does not allow deleting of entire posts (unless it was a double post) for this very reason.
