Help to Buy - can i rent the house i want to buy

Hi, im new here and would appreciate some help/advice. Im  considering renting the place im going to buy using help to buy in the future. Does anyone here know whether this could cause any problems with the help to buy side of things? Would the house be considered “not new” if i rent it?

Is Help To Buy not specificaly for owner-occupation? I've not read the rules but I imagine you have......
Plus will you also have a mortgage? A standard mortgage would be for owner-occupation. You'd need a BTL mortgage.

Your question is hard to answer as we're not sure who you'd be renting/buying it from.

The standard/short answer to your question would be: No.

If it's a new house then the builder will have registered it with Help to Buy; if you rent it from them, then it's not a Help to Buy property any more, it's a BTL.
