Claim for long trip

Hello all,

My itinerary is as follows for May:
Heathrow to Sofia (British Airways)
Sofia to Maldives (Emirates)
Maldives-Kuala Lumpur-Taipei-Osaka-Honolulu (5 individual Air Asia flights)
Honolulu to Oakland (Southwest Airlines)
San Francisco to Gatwick (Norwegian)

I’ve never claimed anything on warranty or insurance in my life and have no idea what to do but I do have annual travel insurance which expires end of June.

All the airlines are only offering me a change of travel or credit towards future flights but ideally I’d like my cash back.

I cancelled all my hotels except 1 which doesn’t do refunds and is offering a change of date only.

The FCO was advising against all travel to the USA and now everywhere. I realise May is still a little while away but I don’t see flights resuming in the short term so thought I’d get some advice now.

Will travel insurance give me my cash back for the flights/Hotel? The Airlines have already said no refunds. What would I need to provide to the insurance company? Also, would I claim everything under 1 claim or different claims for individual segments?

Thanks

It depends on exactly what your travel insurance covers.  Specifically if they cover you in instances of recommendations not to travel.

Now's the time to read the policy document.

you are probably jumping the gun. Whilst you may have decided you are not going to be travelling, I expect it is too early to be looking at cancelling/insurance
If, closer to the time the flights are not cancelled then your insurance may help but you need to go through the policy wording carefully checking whether it covers the situation, including the separate flights
