Non-refundable hotel booking

I booked tickets to a concert in Manchester which has now been cancelled - however, I also booked a hotel through Hotels.com that was non-refundable. Obviously, I won't be going any more but I'm trying to work out any way of getting my money (or a credit note) back for the hotel - I'm quite happy to have a voucher and support the hotel. I've contacted them and they say to contact hotels.com, who aren't answering their phones or replying to messages.
My thoughts so far are that they're not going to refund me easily, being a large organisation and the non-refundable booking, and my Nationwide travel insurance says it covers me only for 2 night stays in the UK (this is one night). The one argument I've thought that might hold weight is that Boris has announced tonight that all restaurants have to close - so the breakfast part of the booking (which was included in the deal) can't happen, therefore they won't be fulfilling their part of the contract.
Any ideas / tips? It was for £160 if that makes a difference and I paid in full on a credit card.
